MIDCENTURY SHOW EAST – this morning in Hackney Posted on August 23, 2015April 8, 2020 by 3restorers Checked out Midcentury East this morning – amazing show, so much nice stuff and the 1960’s school designed by Ernö Goldfinger that the show was held in was the perfect setting (Check out our photos below)… Overview of the main hall Nice set of original Norman Cherner armchairs – bent ply wood c.1958 (US) Interesting Oak armchair. Possible Arts & Crafts. Not clear whether it should have had upholstered seat and back pads but it looked very cool as it was. Cute child’s chair by Harry Bertoia. Loved this artist’s’ palette occasional table. Nice example of one of Robin Day’s less ubiquitous polypropylene chairs (c. 1967)… Awesome 50’s occasional table Crazy 80s toucan lamps MKII Isokon Penguin Donkey (Ernest Race c. 1946) Garden Egg chair – Peter Ghyczy c.1968 This unusual sofa was hinged in two places allowing sitters to move closer together or remain in a line as is conventional Some nice Alvar Aalto pieces Eames seats anyone? Eames rockers Dutch, moulded ply and metal framed chair designed by Friso Kramer for ‘De Cirkel’ c. 1954.Had a similar aesthetic to a lot of Jean Prouvé and Ernest Race’s furniture I thought… This rad old ambulance was parked up in the playground selling bacon sandwiches Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...
